Making a Difference: Switch’s CSR Initiatives in Accessibility, Inclusive Education & Community Support

At Switch, we believe technology can create meaningful opportunities for everyone. Through our CSR initiatives, we continue to work with communities and organisations to promote accessibility, inclusive education, digital empowerment, and greater independence through technology.

GAPS (Gabungan Anak-Anak Palsi Serebrum)

Apple Accessibility Workshops, Apple Teacher Workshops and AAC Support with Proloquo2Go

Date: September – December 2025

As part of our CSR initiative, Switch partnered with GAPS – Cerebral Palsy Malaysia to support teachers and learners in the cerebral palsy community through technology-enabled learning and communication.

We conducted a series of Apple Teacher workshops to equip educators with the skills and confidence to use iPad effectively in teaching and learning. Through these sessions, teachers explored how Apple tools and accessibility features can support differentiated instruction, creativity, communication, and student engagement.

Beyond teacher training, Switch also supported GAPS through the use of the AAC app, Proloquo2Go. This app helps individuals with communication challenges express themselves using symbols, text, and voice output. By introducing Proloquo2Go, we aim to empower teachers with practical tools to help students with cerebral palsy communicate, participate, and learn more independently.

This partnership reflects our commitment to inclusive education and our belief that technology can open new pathways for every learner to express themselves, build confidence, and be meaningfully included in the learning process.

MAB (Malaysia Association for the Blind)

Field Trip to Muzium Negara with iPhone Accessibility

Date: 4 March 2026

On 4 March 2026, the BVI (Blind and Visually Impaired) participants were invited to join the Switch CSR team for a field trip to Muzium Negara.

The purpose of this field trip was to allow participants to experience how iPhone accessibility features can support them in navigating public spaces and accessing information more independently. Using features such as the Magnifier app, participants explored different exhibits while learning about Malaysia’s history.

Each BVI participant was paired with a caregiver and given several tasks to complete during the visit. They moved between designated checkpoints in the museum, explored historical displays, and used the Notes app with voice dictation to record what they learned along the way. After the tour, everyone gathered in small groups to share their discoveries and reflections from the experience.

It was a meaningful and enriching experience for both the Switch team and MAB members. We look forward to organising more opportunities like this to empower the BVI community in the future.

MND (Motor Neurone Disease)

E-Waste Campaign and Apple Accessibility Workshops

Date: April – July 2026

Switch brought Apple Accessibility to MND Malaysia by collaborating and running several workshops. During the workshops, the MND Community members had the opportunity to experience hands-on the latest head tracking accessibility features on iPad. As some of them are unable to use their hands to navigate the device, these features opened up new possibilities for interaction. Through Apple’s accessibility tools, they were able to navigate the iPad using head and facial gestures — such as returning to the Home screen, selecting apps, scrolling left and right, and scrolling up and down.

It was truly an honour to walk alongside the MND Community, guide them through these features, and support them in discovering how technology can empower greater independence and access.

In 2026, Switch partnered with MND Malaysia to accept e-waste and unused electronic devices at their retail outlets. In return, users receive trade-in vouchers for in-store purchases, and the initiative helps fund and raise awareness for the local MND community.

Program to Support MND Community with Your E-Waste at Your Nearest Switch and UR

  1. Declare: Bring your e-waste to selected Switch Outlets.
  2. Consent: Sign the consent form to allow your e-waste value to be donated to MND Malaysia.
  3. Rewards: Receive a voucher for your next purchase.

This event was also featured in a Chinese newspaper, highlighting the impact of our CSR initiative. Read the article on Sin Chew .

Collaboration with Chee Chau at Bett Asia 2026

Accessibility in Action: Empowering Every Learner with iPad

Date: 23 September 2026
Venue: Bett Asia 2026, Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur

As part of our commitment to inclusive education, Switch collaborated with Chee Chau during Bett Asia 2026 for our Tech User Lab session, “Accessibility in Action: Empowering Every Learner with iPad.”

Chee Chau, a visually impaired musician, joined us as a special guest to share how technology has supported his creativity, independence and daily work. During the session, he demonstrated how he uses VoiceOver on Apple devices, together with Logic Pro paired with a Mac mini, to compose music and navigate digital tools independently.

The session also introduced educators to a range of Apple accessibility features that can support different learning needs, including VoiceOver, Magnifier, Spoken Content, Dictation and other built-in tools on iPad. Participants explored how these features can be used in classrooms to create more inclusive and accessible learning experiences for every learner.

Chee Chau’s sharing was a powerful reminder that accessibility is not just about support, but also about enabling independence, creativity and meaningful participation. This collaboration reflects Switch’s continued commitment to empowering educators and communities through inclusive technology.
