Is SPayLater shariah compliant?

Yes, SPayLater (inclusive of BNPL and instalments payment options) is certified as Shariah Compliant by Amanie Advisors (“Amanie”), a global Shariah advisory firm and a registered Shariah advisory company with the Malaysian Securities Commission (SC).

SPayLater is consistent with the Shariah permissibility on Bay’ Bithaman Ajil (deferred payment sale), where the parties in a sale transaction agree to make the payment in a deferred basis.

Why is my approved and granted limit lesser than the stated amount in the activation page -"Up to RM10,000 Limit"?

The maximum limit you may receive is RM10,000. However, each person will be granted a different limit at our discretion. Shopee will review your SPayLater account periodically and adjust your limit accordingly.

Can I apply to increase my available SPayLater limit?

You cannot apply to increase your SPayLater limit. Limits on your SPayLater accounts will be reviewed and adjusted (increase or decrease) according to your spending and repayment behavior.

How do I pay for SPayLater bills?

You can pay for your SPayLater bills from the SPayLater page on Shopee App using ShopeePay, Debit Card/Credit Card, Cash Payment and Online Banking.

What channels are available for SPayLater subscribers to make their monthly payment?

There are four payment channels available to users, namely:

  • 7-11 cash payment.
  • Online banking.
  • ShopeePay wallet.
  • Credit Card/Debit Card.

What happens if I do not make payment on time?

You are required to make full payments as per your SPayLater bills whenever you have utilized the SPayLater function.

If you do not make full payment by the 10th or 1st of every month, your SPayLater and/or Shopee account will be suspended. To continue using the SPayLater service, a late charge of RM10 will be charged.

What are SPayLater late charges?

A late charge of RM10 is imposed if payment is not made within the stipulated time frame and the SPayLater and/or Shopee account is suspended. To remain Shariah-compliant, any charges above the actual cost incurred will be donated to a charitable body approved by the Shariah Advisor You are required to make full payment on the amount stated in your monthly SPayLater bill by:
